about

I wrote this as a piece of imaginary film music about one old mans transition from death to the next realm. I chose the harpsichord because the instrument has a certain mysterious quality about it, especially as the harpsichord in this piece is meant to represent a haunting melody being played by a musical box.
As the old man sits in his chair drifting in and out of consciousness, he starts to hear a haunting melody playing, all at once a beautiful ethereal figure is floating in the air before him, and he feels a longing to be with her. He feels himself fading and gliding out of his body towards her, and as she takes his hand he glances back at his chair and sees himself sitting there, but he has no desire to return to his frail old body. As the music fades his soul goes with her.

about

Kerri Powles Brecon, UK

I live in Brecon, Powys, South Wales. I discovered I could play the piano at 5.
I compose intuitively which means I am unable to read and write music in notation. Most of my music (though not all) comes to me in the dream state, and I am then able to replicate it upon waking. My music has been used in Care and Rest Homes, and has been played to Dementia patients with very positve healing results. ... more
